Meet Dr. Karanian

Jennifer H. Karanian Lansford DMD, MAGD

Dr. Karanian grew up in the beautiful New England town of Suffield, Connecticut.  She graduated high school from Suffield Academy in 1989.  Starting at age 13, she began working at her Father's dental practice starting with filing patient charts and progressing to pouring up dental models and chairside assisting.  At her Father's practice she felt the satisfaction one gets from helping others and she witnessed the meaningful Doctor-Patient relationships her Father built over many years.

After graduating high school, she attended the University of Vermont where she earned an Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 1991 and a Bachelor of Art degree in Psychology in 1993.

While Dr. Karanian worked on completing her Bachelor's degree, she worked as a dental hygienist at the Fletcher Allen Medical Center and a private family dental practice in Burlington, Vermont.  She spent a total of 9 years practicing as a Dental Hygienist prior to attending the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.  Six of those years, she worked as a fulltime dental hygienist at her Father's dental practice.

From 2000 to 2004, Dr. Karanian attended Boston University Dental school where she graduated Cum Laude in 2004.

After graduating dental school, Dr. Karanian was then commissioned as a Captain in the U.S. Army.  She received a post-doctoral certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) from Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.   In this AEGD program, she was able to practice side by side with different dental specialists such as Periodontists, Oral Surgeons, Endodontists and Pediatric dentists.  This enabled her to develop a solid comprehensive dental foundation.  She was also a member of the 101st Airborne Division and her favorite non-dental soldier training activity was rappelling.

After 1 year at Ft. Campbell, Dr. Karanian was then stationed in Germany for 4 more years.  Her main duty in Kaiserslautern, Germany was working as a dentist to U.S. Army Soldiers and their families, which  included making sure the soldiers were dentally ready to deploy.

Dr. Karanian has recorded well over 1100 hours of continuing education and she is a Master in the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD).   There are less than 230 practicing masters in the state of California.  She has done extensive continuing education in Cosmetic Dentistry and completed a variety of courses in comprehensive restorative dentistry.

Dr. Karanian is a member of the 805 Study Collaborative, a component of the Seattle Study Club, which is world renowned for its focus on high-level dental continuing education.

Dr. Karanian and Dr. Lansford met in dental school in 2000, were married in 2005 and served in the Army together.  They have two beautiful daughters, Georgianna and Alexandra.  As a family, they are currently enjoying weekends spent at softball tournaments, acting performances, or relaxing at the lake.
